The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) held it’s annual meeting in Las Vegas, NV this week. Presented were talks and demonstrations on multiple aspects of cosmetic procedures. Dr. Robert L. True attended this meeting to keep up on the latest techniques and theories on performing cosmetic procedures. These included updates on performing breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tucks, and facial rejuvenation.

During the conference, an emphasis was placed on potential complications that can occur while doing cosmetic surgery, how to avoid them, how to identify them, and how to correct them. Prevention is always the best course of action, and ideas and advice on preventing complications from occuring were discussed.

A new topic that was emphasized this year was hormone therapy. Dr. Neal Rouzier discussed the Anti-Aging benefits of hormone therapy and how it is an absolute must for a cosmetic surgery practice. Dr. True has been taught by Dr. Rouzier and agrees with this philosophy. Dr. True’s passion is to enhance the natural beauty of a person both on the outside, with cosmetic surgery procedures, and on the inside, with health enhancing concepts such as hormone therapy.

The highlight of the conference, at least for Dr. True, was a tear wrenching farewell from Dr. Angelo Cuzalina. Dr. Cuzalina is a dear friend of Dr. True’s and was the president of the AACS last year. He presented a journey of his through the years with the Academy and all the people he became friends who were associated with the academy. We are sure he will continue to support the organization with his teaching and philosophical expertise for many more years.
