Plastic surgery was once considered only for rich and famous people like Hollywood stars but the scenario has changed considerably over the last 10 years. Since 1997, the number of patients (both men and women) undergoing cosmetic procedures in the U.S. has grown by approximately 457%.
The cosmetic surgeries became more popular and more globally accepted. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the most requested cosmetic surgeries are breast enlargement followed by liposuction, cosmetic eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty and tummy tucks.
A study performed by The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reveals the truths about plastic surgery that wound up debunking many stereotypes. The study is done based on the people considering plastic surgery within the next two years.
According to this study almost 30 percent of the participants had average household incomes of less than $30,000, 41 percent had annual incomes of $31,000 to $60,000 and 16 percent had annual incomes of $61,000 to $90,000 whereas only 13 percent reported to have average household incomes of more than $90,000 per year. So, it is interesting to know that more than 70 percent of all the participants fell into the two bottom income categories.
More than 85 percent of the patients’ undergone plastic surgery were Caucasian and among them 85 percent were women.
Contrary to the common belief, the motivation behind desiring cosmetic surgery is more than a pretty or younger looking face. The people undergone cosmetic surgery felt emotional, psychological benefits such as increased happiness, self-esteem and self-confidence and social improvements by having the surgery. Most of the patients emphasized that although they are interested in having cosmetic surgery to improve their appearance but they are not motivated by vanity. Often people desire cosmetic surgery to improve a bothersome physical feature to overcome dissatisfaction and unhappiness related with that feature. 75 percent of people said that they gain physical benefits such as improved appearance, becoming more active and being healthier after having the surgery.
Other factors responsible for the increased popularity of cosmetic surgeries are as follows :- Increasing appeal and more socially acceptance of cosmetic surgeries, people now feel more free to make choices about their appearances, reduced cost of cosmetic surgeries, that helps it affordable for the average income earner, and more clinics with certified doctors with a wide variety of procedures in a safe environment.
So now there is no need to remain dissatisfied with your appearance, start your own personal transformation by proper cosmetic procedure and be confidant and happy.
