On June 4th, I was featured on the TV channel CW33 and asked to clear up some of the myths that have been discussed about women’s health. Click here to see this TV interview.
Here are some of the topics discussed:
First, we discussed my unique weight loss program called the HCG True Diet. This diet works through the power of HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin), also known as the pregnancy hormone. I can be administered via a cream, an injection or a nasal spray. It essentially ‘tricks’ your body into thinking you are pregnant and, along with a very low calorie diet, it forces your body to give up the calories from the fat to “feed the baby”. However, since there’s no baby, you feel fine on this 500 calorie a day diet and you have energy. However, because of such a low calorie intake, it is a program closely monitored by us with regular visists, labs, and nutritional guidance. On average, most people lose around 20 to 30 pounds.
MYTH 1) Breast Augmentation Interferes with Nursing: I said that it does NOT interfere with nursing if the Doctor performing the procedure puts the implant under the muscle. I perform this type of breast augmentation in my office surgicenter while the patient is awake, also called Awake Breast Aug. Recovery is quick and the results are great.
MYTH 2) Irregular Periods Means You’ll Have Problems Conceiving: I said that is not necessarily the case. There are a lot of factors that can contribute to irregular or heavy menstrual periods but it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have problems getting pregnant in the future. Many times, medications can resolve the problem.
MYTH 3) You Gain Weight from ‘The Pill’: Yes, you can gain water weight, but if you gain ‘FAT – weight’ then it goes back to the simple equation that if you intake more than you output you gain weight. In other words, if you gain weight you’re eating too much and not exercising enough.
MYTH 4) You Can Increase Your Sex Drive: Although there are no known good aphrodesiacs, there are procedures and hormonal manipulations that we can do at True Aesthetics Center in Colleyville that can help out in this area, but there isn’t some magic pill or food you can eat to do the trick. Making sure you have the proper homones and hormonal balance can help.
