To know if you need a breast lift, many people performed the pencil test. Here, you put a pencil under the breasts in the fold. If it stays while you’re standing, it’s a good probability you will need a lift. Another way is to measure between your collar bone (clavicle) and your nipple, if the measurement is greater than 10 inches, you probably need a lift. Another way is to see if your nipples are falling. If they point down, you need a lift.

The reshaped breasts can maintain their new youthful and perky appearance for many years. However, one should remember that the aging process does continue and gravity does continue to force the breasts down. Thus, the procedure should not be considered permanent, for it cannot permanently delay these effects that cause the breasts to sag. One way to help keep the breasts up and perky is to always wear a good support bra when you are standing or exercising.

For those women who are still thinking about becoming pregnant, they should consider waiting until after the pregnancy before undergoing this procedure. Otherwise, the breasts can sag again after pregnancy. However, many women have breast augmentation and lifts before they become pregnant and they have no problems afterward. Thus, it sort of is your choice.

There are many differing types of breast lift procedures. Indeed, there are many reasons why women choose to undergo a breast lift. Some women have adequate sized breasts yet they sag, while others desire not only a lift but also breast enhancement. Breast lift surgery can be performed alone or in conjunction with breast augmentation to add more volume to the breast. Some women feel their breasts are not well positioned, and some have substantial asymmetry of their breasts. Many women complain of a lack of substance or firmness in their breasts. Other women complain that their breasts point downward instead of forward. A breast lift can help women correct most of these conditions.

Most cosmetic surgeons perform breast lift surgery using general anesthesia. However, Dr. True can perform the procedure using mild to moderate sedation and a local anesthetic (i.e. Awake Breast Aug). Before the procedure starts, the nipple areola areas are marked very accurately so they will end up very symmetrical and pointing forward. During the procedure, the breasts are numbed with a special anesthetic fluid. The excess fallen tissue is excised and the nipple areola is repositioned so it will be in the center of the breast mound pointing the most forward. The lower part of the breast usually requires an up and down scar in order to recreate the correct shape of the breast and to lift the breast tissue adequately.

Breast Lift surgery takes from 2 to 4 hours to perform. Dr. True performs this procedure in his accredited office based surgicenter. The accreditation certificate signifies that he has made sure the standard safety measures are maintained for ensuring the best health and safety of his patients. Many other surgeons use a hospital or other surgical center, which may significantly increase the cost of the procedure.

After the Breast Lift procedure, there is moderate to severe pain that lasts a few days. This is usually adequately relieved with oral pain medicines. Recovery is usually quite rapid, with resumption of normal activity within one to a few weeks depending on the patient’s activity level. Most of the time, patients may return to sedentary work and drive within 5-7 days. More physical activity, exercising and lifting can be started around 2 weeks after the surgery.

Anyone who undergoes breast lift surgery must have realistic expectations about the procedure. Most of the time, although the resulting shape is usually quite satisfactory, scars are present on the breasts. These are necessary for longer term satisfactory results, to give the breasts correct proportions, and to give the appropriate strength to the breast tissues so they can maintain their new shape without excess stretching. Any woman undergoing this procedure must realize the fact that she will have scars on her breasts so she has a better idea of the realistic outcomes that will happen from the surgery. If she can accept these scars versus sagging breasts, if she prefers having more beautifully shaped breasts that are much less saggy, then she could be a good candidate for the procedure.

Every cosmetic surgeon has his/her own special preferences regarding the best breast lifting procedure. Only a thorough evaluation and exam can determine what would be the best one for you. If you think you would like a breast lift procedure performed, please make an appointment at our office to discuss your concerns. You should undergo an extensive breast evaluation before deciding on the best course of action for you. We can thoroughly discuss your concerns, your options, the procedure, and your desired results so you can get the breasts you want. Call us for a consultation today at 817-399-8783, and become well informed about the procedure and its results.

Usually, the best surgeon to perform your cosmetic breast surgery should have adequate training, credentials and personality for performing these procedures. A board certified cosmetic surgeon is probably your best bet of finding the best surgeon for your breast surgery. Check out his credentials and see if he is board certified. Dr. True is board certified in cosmetic surgery, specializing in breast and body cosmetic surgeries. Because he is also board certified in two other fields to help you live your life to the fullest, he is unique in offering you a multitude of options to enhance your body’s appearance and health, both on the outside and the inside.

Using a laser, the fat is melted and the skin is tightened in conjunction with the liposculpting techniques of Liposuction. The advantages are better skin tightening with usage of the laser and potentially less bruising and downtime.

Many people have called SmartLipo the “lunchtime lipo.” There have been advertisements that have said that one can have the procedure done in an hour or two, then you leave with less fat, tightened skin, and with no downtime so you can even go back to work the same day. For small areas of fat, this can indeed be the case. However, for most people who desire significant fat reduction, the laser lipolysis must be combined with liposuction in order to remove the fat and contour the area with liposculpture techniques. This takes longer to do as is recovery.

There are many physicians trained in performing liposuction and laser lipolysis procedures. They are cosmetic surgeons who can have original surgical training in other surgical fields but later received additional cosmetic training after their surgical residency. They are thus trained to perform these surgeries in a safe fashion and with the best results. Dr. Robert True is privileged to be able to instruct many of these physicians the art of liposuction and body contouring liposculpture procedures.

Laser lipolysis and liposuction procedures do carry potential risks but with the advent of tumescent techniques, these risks are rare. These risks include excess bleeding, infection, skin irregularities, contour deformities, and skin scarring. Because the laser produces heat, there is a slight potential risk of skin burns and thermal injury. If the skin is too elastic after removing the fat, the skin tightening may not be sufficient. There is really no way to be assured that these unexpected problems won’t happen, but luckily they are uncommon.

Specialized surgical training, technical skill, aesthetic knowledge and judgment, and experience are necessary to achieve good results in any type of cosmetic surgery. If you are considering body contouring surgery such as liposuction or laser lipolysis, do your homework and check out the qualifications and experience of your surgeon. You have a higher chance of good results if you choose the right one to give you satisfying results and make you happy.

If you want to know if you are a candidate for SmartLipo and liposuction surgery, call us for a consultation. Dr. Robert True provides SmartLipo Liposculpture procedures for patients in the Dallas Fort Worth and Mid Cities areas of Texas. Performed in the privacy of his accredited office based surgicenter located in Colleyville, he is conveniently located right next to the DFW Airport.

3. Tummy Tuck Faqs

You most likely need a Tummy Tuck versus just liposuction if your lower abdominal skin is loose and/or falls down over your pelvic bone, if you have a lot of stretch marks on your lower abdomen, if you’ve lost a lot of weight, if your belly bulges out a lot, or if your skin is just too loose on your belly. In these situations, we most likely need to stretch the skin and maybe bring the muscles together to give you a flat stomach with smooth skin. If you just have a little extra fat or bulge in your belly and good skin, you might be able to just have liposuction. Getting a consultation would help you to know what would be best for you.

If your belly button curves down in a “frown”, then most  likely you have loose skin on your upper abdomen. If you just did liposuction, that frown would be even worse. Thus, it is usually necessary to do a tummy tuck so the skin can be stretched down and the tummy flattened.  Liposuction alone will not give you as good a look as the tummy  tuck. However, if you look in your mirror and your belly button is a round circle, you may do well with just liposuction of the abdomen.

A full tummy tuck usually involves liposuction of the upper and lower abdomen, removal of the excess skin in the lower abdomen resulting in an incision from the sides of the hips, and plication of the muscles to give you a very flat smooth stomach. A mini tummy tuck just pulls the skin down in the lower abdomen, involves a shorter incision, and is usually performed with some liposuction but no plication of the muscles is usually performed. There is also a type of tummy tuck in between these called a Short Scar tummy tuck, which is a cross between these two procedures and is sometimes also called a mini tummy tuck.

If you’ve ever been pregnant, you know that your stomach stretches out from growth of the baby. This also happens if you had been obese and lost a lot of weight. Afterwards, these muscles are still separated in the middle resulting in a bulge in the middle of your belly that liposuction alone cannot help. You therefore need a muscle plication performed. Here, we sew the coverings of the muscles, called the fascia, together in the midline which flattens and strengthens your abdominal muscles and results in a very beautiful flat tummy. It does not injure the muscles, but is the only way to fix the bulge produced by those separated bulging muscles.

Our technique is to first infiltrate the tissues with tumescent fluid, which provides numbness, decreases bleeding, decreases risks of infection, and allows us to perform the procedure with less anesthetic. Then we perform liposuction to reduce the fat in the abdomen, thin the waist and reduce the muffin tops as needed. Next we measure the excess skin in the lower abdomen as it stretches down, then excise the excess skin. We then plicate the muscles in the midline to flatten the stomach nicely. Finally we sew the skin edges together in as low a position as possible, within the bikini line, resulting in a very smooth and flat tummy with a thin waist and with an incision that is not visible when you wear a bikini. You can view a mini-tummy tuck procedure performed by Dr. True where the muscles are plicated in a video we produced: just click here.

We perform our tummy tucks in our surgicenter in Colleyville, TX, which is right next to DFW Airport and easy access for anywhere in the Dallas Fort Worth and Mid Cities Metroplex area. Our facility is an AAAHC accredited facility, meaning we have complied with all the safety standards for the best care for our patients; similar to hospitals and larger out-patient facilities must comply with to provide the best environment of safety and excellence.

Most of our patients can go back to sedentary type work within 5-7 days after a tummy tuck, regardless of whether it is a mini or a full tummy tuck. No longer is your recovery 6-8 weeks like some of the old tummy tuck procedures. With our new method, you get up-and-at-‘em rapidly. After a week you start doing more activities and you should be back at all your normal activities, including lifting weights, around 4-6 weeks after the procedure. Most of our patients are not severely “bent over” after the procedure like one has seen with some of the older techniques.

Pain is perceived differently by every person. Some people have minimal pain while others have a lot of pain after a tummy tuck. However, we always give the patient pain medications which help decrease the pains. We also do the technique differently than the older technique by not using as much cautery during the procedure so you have less “burning” of the tissue under the skin and fat. In addition, we use tumescent fluid that has lidocaine in it resulting in some numbness of the area for several hours after the procedure. Most patients say that the postop pain was not as bad as they had expected.

Most mini tummy tucks can be performed with the Awake method, otherwise called the Awake Tummy Tuck. However, a full tummy tuck usually requires the patient to be asleep for the procedure. With these, we use deep sedation for full tummy tucks combined with tumescent fluid that allows us to do the procedure while you’re asleep but using minimal general anesthetic. A tube down the throat is usually not necessary and you are always breathing on your own during the procedure. We feel recovery is much better after this type of technique.

Luckily, we have few complications partly due to our newer technique and partly due to the tumescent fluid we use. Infections can occur, but the lidocaine in the fluid is bacteriostatic and reduces this risk. Also, we recommend some other tactics that can reduce infection. Infections can cause some bad complications to occur, including making the skin not attach together and formation of pus in the wound. It can also cause necrosis of the skin in rare situations, as can lack of blood circulation to the skin. These are particularly problems when one smokes cigarettes, and these warning are discussed with patient prior to the procedure. The tumescent fluid also decreases the risk of post-op bleeding, as do drains that we use which are easy to take care of post-op.

The cost of tummy tucks varies depending on what you need for the best results. A mini tummy tuck with liposuction starts at around $6500 and as more procedures are added to perform a full tummy tuck or more, this could range from $6500 to $9500, or more, plus possibly anesthetic costs. Only a consultation with us will help you know the best choice and price for you. We feel we are very competitive in pricing for our procedures, but if you get a bid from someone else and would like to know our comparisons, we welcome you to discuss this with us. Make an appointment today for a consultation by contacting us via email or call us at 817-399-8783 to find out the best option for you.

After arrival to the True Aesthetics Center Surgicenter in Colleyville, Texas, you are given a mild sedative and then tumescent anesthetic fluid is administered. Small incisions are made, preferably in hidden areas, and the breasts are prepared for the procedure. The implants are then inserted and adjusted. Because you are awake during the procedure, you are thus able to look at your new breasts during the procedure. You can then decide if want more fluid added to give you larger breasts if saline implants are chosen.

We utilize tumescent fluid to numb the breasts. Not only does this provide excellent anesthesia so the procedure can be performed without pain, but it also decreases the risks of developing infections and decreases the risk of bleeding problems. Using a gentle stream of water to numb the breasts also helps in the dissection of the breasts. Called hydrodissection, it results in a more gentle separation of the tissues of the breast. Thus, it is probably the best method for performing the procedure.

With Awake Breast Aug, the implants can be placed underneath the muscle or above the muscle and the choice is dependent on many variables. The best choice for you can only be ascertained after a thorough exam. These options can be discussed with Dr. True during your consultation, choosing the best one to give your breasts the best look possible.

Awake Breast Augmentation is performed in our accredited surgicenter in Colleyville. We can thus provide breast enhancements for women who live in and around the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex area. Our desire is to offer to patients a very comfortable environment where they can have their breast augmentation procedure performed in a center that has fulfilled the safety requirements and standards of care of one of the most prestigious accreditation associations of the United States, AAAHC.

Since tumescent anesthesia is used for the procedure, you will enjoy the benefit of continued numbness of the breasts for up to 6 to 8 hours after the procedure. The amount of pain you will experience is extremely variable, dependent on each individual woman. We have many options for postoperative pain relief and these will be discussed preoperatively. You will be seen regularly so we can make sure all is going well. Dr. True makes sure he is available for all his patients if necessary. Usually, he will give you his cell phone number in case you must contact him.

There are basically two types of implants that can be used for breast augmentation. Saline and Silicone. Each has its own risks and benefits which can be discussed during the consultation. In addition, natural augmentation can be performed while you are awake, which utilizes your own fat to enhance the size and shape of your breasts. All these options should be discussed and considered before undergoing the procedure.

Awake Breast Aug is also called Smart Breast Aug. Why? Because it incorporates almost all the best methods of doing breast augmentation, so it is the smartest way to do breast augmentation. It is performed while you’re awake, thus avoiding potential anesthetic risks. The most appropriate hidden incision is used, according to your desires. You pick the size you want the breasts to be, even while the procedure is being performed. It utilizes gentle hydrodissection during the procedure. The placement of the implants is variable dependent on your lifestyle. There are many more advantages that can be discussed during your consultation.

To set up an appointment to find out more about this procedure, call our office today. We can discuss the many options you must consider to make sure you get the breasts you’ve always wanted. Call us at 817-399-8783.

Through vaginal cosmetic surgery, we can reconstruct your vagina and the appearance of your genital areas to give you a more beautiful, a more youthful looking, and a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

After vaginal childbirth, many women say that sex is just not the same because they don’t have the same youthful “tightness” that they had before the baby “stretched” their vagina wide. Usually, the muscles of the vagina have been spread so wide that they cannot squeeze adequately during intercourse, resulting in less sexual gratification. A vaginal rejuvenation repairs these problems and reconstructs the vagina into more what she had before the birth of her children.

During the procedure, patients are given mild sedation and a local anesthetic which numbs the area totally. They feel a few stings initially, but these are well tolerated due to the mild sedation. Postoperatively, because of the advanced technique created by Dr. True, most patients do not have a lot of pain after the procedure. Both labiaplasty and clitoral hood reduction can be performed at the same time with the same minimal postoperative pain.

During the procedure, the patient feels a small amount of burning sensation from the local anesthetic, but then the area becomes numb and no further pain is experienced during the actual procedure. Postoperatively patients do exhibit pain, but we give pain medicines to the patient plus special suppositories that can continue to numb the areas, which help the patient get remarkable relief.

Each procedure is priced according to time and difficulty in doing the procedure. The cost can vary from as low as $2500 up to $8,500, depending on what procedures the patient desires. Only a consultation with us will help you know exactly what the best price will be for your particular needs.

Most cosmetic vaginal cosmetic procedures are performed in our AAAHC accredited surgicenter. Occasionally they can also be performed in a hospital, particularly when other procedures will be performed at the same time, such as hysterectomies or bladder repairs.

Labiaplasty, is a surgical procedure that reduces excessively long labia in a cosmetic fashion. Due to genetic factors, pregnancy and simply age, the labia minora, i.e. the inner lips of the vulva, can enlarge and elongate, making them not look good and functionally become a nuisance. Many women are concerned about this appearance and some have lowered self-esteem because of this. A labiaplasty makes the labia look more youthful and sexier.

Using mild sedation and a local anesthetic, the labia are measured and trimmed and then their length is reduced by excising a part the excess protruding labial tissue. There are many techniques used in performing this procedure. Dr. True has created his own unique technique that gives the woman a more natural and beautiful look to her labia and vulvar areas.

First, mild sedation is given and then the entire vaginal area is numbed with the use of a local anesthetic called tumescent fluid. The muscles are exposed and then brought back together with surgical sutures. The perineum that was widened with the vaginal birth is also repaired and brought back together. The result is a more functional vagina that is tighter to enhance a woman’s sexual satisfaction.

The best surgeon for these procedures should be a physician who is personable, caring and understands what women want. He/she should be well trained, have extensive experience, and be knowledgeable about not only the procedures but about the proper functioning of the genital areas for the woman. We recommend you choose a physician who is board certified in both gynecology and in cosmetic surgery. Dr. Robert L True is board certified in both these fields and is uniquely qualified to perform these procedures for optimal results.

Many women are concerned that they no longer experience the same pleasure they once did with intercourse. Consistently these women all say the same thing, “my vagina is too loose”, “I have less friction during intercourse” or “I just don’t feel anything during sex”.

A major cause of these problems occurs during childbirth. Although pregnancy is one of life’s most rewarding and beautiful experiences, many women experience devastating side effects from it. Stretching and tearing of the vagina during childbirth can lead to vaginal relaxation and change in sexual function and sensation. If you experience these problems, then you may benefit from this procedure.

Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (LVR) restores the natural anatomy of the vagina, usually stretched or torn by childbirth. It effectively enhances vaginal muscle tone, strength, and control. By decreasing the vaginal diameters as well as building up and strengthening the perineal body, vaginal tightening is achieved. At the same time, the external appearance of the vulva and perineum is improved and appears more slit-like and virginal.

Vaginal relaxation usually occurs from childbirth, but also occurs because of age, weight loss and weight gain. When vaginal relaxation is excessive, the vagina is no longer at its optimum physiological state. As a result, sensations within the vagina and sexual gratification are diminished.

After childbirth, if you have said that “Sex” is just not the same because of looseness of the vagina, you may be a candidate for LVR. If you want to increase sexual gratification, LVR may be a viable option for you. Sexual orgasm in women has been related to the frictional forces within the vagina to pull on and stimulate the clitoris. Tightening the vagina improves these sensations.

Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation for the enhancement of sexual gratification is a modification of a standard existing gynecologic vaginal surgery used throughout the world for the treatment of vaginal relaxation and its associated symptoms. The procedure done for sexual enhancement and tightening is considered a cosmetic procedure and usually is not considered a medical necessity. If you suffer from symptoms of vaginal looseness and minimal stimulation with intercourse, this procedure may be right for you.

After the procedure, most women experience some pain and soreness within the vagina for a few days. These are usually treated adequately with pain medications and topical ointments. Activities are gradually increased over two to four weeks. Sexual intercourse can be resumed six weeks after the procedure.
